Submission Policies:
Two types of paper are acceptable for the conference. First type of regular paper manuscripts are suggested to be no more than 6 pages in total length. Second type pf high quality one-page Presentation-only position papers are also welcomed. Papers submitted should be written in English. All submissions must be prepared electronically in PDF format via the conference website, http://web.ite.mcu.edu.tw/CACS2018/. The official language of the conference is English. All the accepted regular papers would be officially submitted to IEEE Xplore® and be EI-indexed, while the accepted position papers would be ONLY included in the conference proceeding.

Paper Types
- All papers should be submitted electronically in PDF format through the Paper Submission System.
- The CACS 2018 accepts either type of submissions, regular paper or position paper, for review. Both types of papers should be written in English, and would be included in the conference proceeding.
Regular paper:
- Full papers (6-8 pages with conference official format) must be submitted for review. To encourage diverse motivation of paper submissions, authors of the submissions could have an option to select whether they want their papers to be submited to IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
- Suggested length for the final manuscript of the regular paper is 6 pages. Papers exceeding 6 pages might be submitted upon payment of overlength page charges. A maximum of 2 extra pages above 6 pages are permitted.
- Extra pages over 6 would incur extra charges (NT$3000/page) for inclusion in the conference publications.

One-page Presentation-only Paper:
- This category of submissions is provided to authors who want to have a timely present of their research. One of the authors of an accepted "One-page Presentation-only position Paper" would be responsible for oral presentation in the conference session. Papers accepted in this category would ONLY be included in the conference proceeding without further IEEE Xplore consideration.

Selected papers of CACS2018 will be recommended to rewrite and then submit to special issues of three SCI-E indexed journals- Sensors, Asian Journal of Control (AJC) or International Journal of Fuzzy Systems (IJFS). Authors of CACS 2018 are encouraged to participate SS1, SS2 and SS14 for possible submission to these special issues.
SS1 IJFS Special Issue (Download CFP)
The aim of this open issue is to present state-of-the-art results in the area of theory and applications of fuzzy control design at large, and to bring potential and well-known researchers in this area together. Fuzzy control has been a systematic and efficient approach to analyze and synthesize a wide class of various nonlinear systems. Moreover, the featured design of fuzzy control can be employed to deal with a wide range of nonlinear and complicated control problems. There have been a number of innovative results on this area in the literature. However, there is still room for improvement of the existing results in order to propose new techniques for fuzzy control. This open issue welcomes any high quality submission from researchers working in the area of advanced fuzzy control design and its applications.
The Smart Sensors and Measurement play an important role of new developments and advancements in nowadays. This special session focuses on all aspects of design, development, implementation, operation and applications of intelligent and smart sensors, sensor network, instrumentation and measurement methodologies. The intent is to cover all the technical contents, applications, and multidisciplinary aspects of the field, embedded in the areas of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Robotics, Control, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, and Life Sciences, as well as the methodologies behind them.

SS4 Computational Intelligence and Symbolic Data Processing for Weather Data Processing and Prediction (Prof. S.-F. Su and Prof. C.-C. Chuang)
Weather forecasting is an application of science and technology to predict the state of the atmosphere for a future time and a given location. Human wanted to predict the weather since ancient times. To successfully achieve the weather prediction, a lot of weather data are used. However, some of different types of data are existed in weather data. In the special session, we want to collect some of papers for weather data processing and prediction using computational intelligence.
SS5 Control System Design and Applications (Prof. C.-F. Juang and Prof. C.-L. Lin)
This SS aims to bring together scholars in the area of control systems design and applications to share their new works in control theory and practical applications. Five paper shave been invited and will be presented in this SS. The topics include adaptive model-free control design for multi-axis system, full-bridge bi-directional inductive power and data transfer scheme for electric vehicles, using a type-2 neural fuzzy controller for navigation control of evolutionary robots, evolutionary multiobjective interval type-2 fuzzy controller for system control, and an actor-critic reinforcement learning control approach for nonlinear system with uncertainty.
SS6 Guidance and Control (Prof. D.-C. Liaw)
In this session, we will present the research results from the current on-going MOST integrated project “A Design of Campus Touring Guidance Platform.” There will be five papers including “The studies on image-based positioning system and moving object detection system for the automatic vehicle,” “A Primary-Side Controller Design for Fast Wireless Charger,” “A method for finding the routes of mazes,” “A Design of Personnel Navigation Platform” and “Control Design for Vehicle’s Stop-to-Stop Motion.”
SS7 Advances in IOT Learning Robot (Prof. K.-T. Song, Prof. K.-Y. Young, and Prof. J.-S. Hu)
Due to fast progress of IoT and cloud computing technologies, many new applications have been working out to provide services for various industrial automation and health-care services based on sensors and robots. In the future human, sensors and robots are all connected in IoT and share information from cloud. The object of this integrated project is to develop a collaborative IoT robotic system based on cloud computing. In this system the robot can learn new skills and be programmed easily from cloud and a human teacher. More importantly, a learning robot can be trained to execute personalized tasks. You are cordially invited to join this special session on learning robotics.
SS8 Development of Wearable Brain Computer Interface Device (Prof. P.-L. Lee and Prof. Y.-T. Wu)
With the coming of aging society, the human population of aged and paralyzed people keeps rising which results in the increase of the need for mobility assistive devices. This session aims to invite researchers who are focusing on the development of wearable brain computer interface (BCI) devices. The subjects of this session will include all aspects of BCI developments, including BCI signal processing algorithms, circuit design, brain wave feature extraction, robotic arm control, and etc. Papers related to brain wave controlled systems and clinical applications to thought controls in heavily paralyzed or totally paralyzed patients are welcomed.
SS9 Soft Computing and Its Applications in Control (Prof. Y.-G. Leu, Prof. Y.-H. Hung, Prof. H.-H. Chiang, and Prof. S.-Y. Chen)
Since soft computing can tolerate uncertainties, inaccuracies, approximations and partial truths, it becomes a major research and study area in automatic control engineering. Examples of soft computing methods include fuzzy systems, neural networks, evolutionary computation, expert systems, and so on. This special session focuses on the practical aspects of soft computing and their applications in motor control, energy management optimization, robot arm control, and mobile robots.
SS10 Intelligent Medical Robots in Minimally Invasive Surgery (Prof. Y.-Y. Chen and Prof. J.-Y. Yen)
Medical robot in Minimally Invasive Surgery is attracting more and more attention recently. The success of da Vinci robot system has proved that robot technology is viable in clinical practices and is widely accepted and welcomed by the public. However, da Vinci robot arms are currently designed to operate directly by surgeons. With the vast advance of AI and intelligent systems, it is only natural that intelligent or autonomous medical robot systems should be developed.
SS11 Ping-Pong Robots Design (Prof. T.-T. Lee and Prof. C.-F. Hsu)
With the advancement of science and technology, robot design becomes versatile and highly complex. Its related technology and equipment are easier to obtain and higher precision requirement has significantly increased as compare to the past. This research project is intended to design and develop a Ping-Pong Robot as a research platform, mainly because that ping-pong sports in addition to identify the size of a ping-pong table, the rotating direction; the landing position of the ping-pong ball are required to compute and predict. Ping-Pong Robot system, which is an important application platform for hardware systems, algorithms, vision equipment and so on, has been fascinating researchers all over the world. Therefore, to design a suitable ping-pong robot is a very difficult, complicated and challenging research project.
SS12 Swarm Robots for Auxiliary Fire Service (Prof. T.-T. Lee and Prof. C.-F. Hsu)
The fire accident scene is very dangerous. Even if the firefighters were safely got out of the fire scene, they could still possibly face a chronic health problem. The unsafe working conditions may put firefighters at the risk of their lives. With the application of advanced computer, information, electronics, communications and sensing technologies, real-time information of the fire scene can be provided to firefighters. This project could improve the interactions within the fire scene, firefighters and artificial intelligence robots. As a result, the safety and efficiency of rescue mission can be improved.

SS14 AJC Special Issue/Modelling and Control for Practical Systems (Prof. S. T. Pan and Prof. C. H. Lee)
This special session focuses on applying the emerging modelling technology and control design method on various practical systems. The topic of Paper 1 is concerning the modelling of feed drive system by using PSO to estimate the parameters of the system. Paper focuses on the chaotic masking based secure communications in multiple time-delay chaotic (MTDC) systems. Paper 3 explores the robust performance analysis of switched time-delay systems with time-varying random delay. Through the development of APP on portable devices, a wireless control mobile hoist system is proposed in Paper 4. In Paper 5, an artificial pancreas systems of diabetes are realized by an adaptive iterative learning control (AILC) for meal-glucose-insulin systems with random bounded external glucose infusion rates. Finally, Paper 6 examines the modelling problem of human emotions based on electrocardiogram (ECG). The experiences of the modelling and control design for different practical systems will be exchanged between the scholars in this special session.
SS15: AIoT in Healthcare (Prof Y.-P. Huang and K.-H. Su)
Taiwan has become an aged society in the year of 2018 where seniors constitute 14% of total population. Elderly people are more susceptible to limb joint related diseases. Regular maintenance is a must for limb joints to function properly. In the worst-case scenario, total knee arthroplasty (TKA) reconstruction is indicated to regain mobility. This proposal approaches from control engineering perspective to devising some simple yet useful sensor devices and examination modules to help patients track the progress of rehabilitation. Orthopedists can also obtain valuable information from the infrastructure of AI and Internet of Things (AIoT) to assess the effectiveness of rehabilitation. This organized session is under the infrastructure of AIoT to have a long-term monitoring and thorough evaluation on limb joint flexibility and mental and physical status from sensor modules and mobile assistive devices.
SS16: Collaborative multi-robotic Systems (Prof. C.-C. Tsai, Prof. H.-Y. Lin, K.-S. Hwang, H.-C. Hwang, and G.-R. Yu)
This SS aims to present novel methodologies and techniques for smart distributed estimation, formation control, cooperation and collaboration, intelligent control, fuzzy networked control, 3D robotic vision, deep learning, reinforcement learning, human-robot interaction and applications of CPS-based heterogeneous mobile multirobots, in order to achieve distributed estimation, collective, cooperative and collaborative tasks. A modular and mechatronic method is proposed to design and synthesize such intelligent heterogeneous mobile multirobots with innovative functions.
SS17: Safe, automatic, energy efficient and comfortable smart factory and office environment (Prof. K.-Y. Lian and M.-Y Chen)
This special session is related to our MOST project reports. We consider the scenario of factories and offices and discuss how to provide a safe, automatic, energy efficient and comfortable working environment using IoTs technology. The main topics include the newly development on the control of mobile robots, vision reconstruction, wireless sensor networks, and the wearable control device.
